There are two types of transport a) Active b) Passive. In active transport, the movement of the material occurs and the cell expand energy. In passive transport, the movement of substance occurs across the membrane in the absence of input energy by cell.In this lab, discussion is centered on the passive transport.Diffusion is one of the simplest example of passive transport.Diffusion is the process of movement of molecules from the higher concentration to a lower concentration area in the absence of energy input. This process is driven through the kinetic energy present in the molecules.Due to this process, the molecules concentration remain same throughout the area occupied by the molecules ,that results the state of equilibrium ("Osmosis and Diffusion", 2016, p.n.d).Osmosis is also one of the simplest example of passive transport.Osmosis is the process of the movement of water across the semi-permeable membrane. When the water molecules starts to diffuse across the area of cell membrane from higher concentration to the area of lower concentration (Burton, 2016, p.n.d).The direction of travelling the molecule is depends on relative concentration of solutes from both sides.
