Why I want to join your college

After completing my high school, I enrolled at a local computer school where I learnt how to design and maintain databases, enter data into spreadsheets. But my favourite program was the MS-Word, this program enabled me to edit, format and manipulate data the way I liked. What amazed me most about this program, is its ability to point out misspelled words. I asked my tutor to explain how it managed to do that but he didn’t give a clear answer. This encouraged me to do an extensive research which led me to computer programming. I learnt that computers don’t function by themselves but follow a written set of commands or programming codes. These codes are what guides a computer to perform certain tasks. As I dug deeper into the sea of information, I realized that the study of computers was sub-divided into numerous and more complicated fields like the Artificial Intelligence, Compilers, data security and more others.
From the information I got, I settled on programming because it was my starting foundation of understanding computers. Also, I got to understand why the MS-Word program pointed out a misspelled or non-english word by underlining it with a red dotted line. The research provided me with greater understanding of how a computer retrieves, manipulates and stores data. With my training in computer programs and the information I got from my research, I was able to troubleshoot faulty computers in my local town. I have also improved my communication skills by interacting with different clients and learned how to meet deadlines.
The computer technology is dynamic and ever changing, what you learn today will be outdated by tomorrow. I have searched for colleges which offer computer programming course and after deep analysis, I’ve settled on your college. I want to study and research on computer viruses, as well as, develop an antivirus software that will tackle the most stubborn viruses. Your college alumni are successful in the IT industry and I desire to follow their footsteps. My future goal is to start an IT company that deals in software development and create job opportunities IT graduates.
I had the opportunity to visit your open day forum last month and I was impressed by your students presentation and their products on display. The high level of organisation on that day clearly reflects what your college stands for and am looking forward to joining it. Your college is best opportunity for me to realise my dream of becoming a software developer.
