George W. Bush's birthday is on July 6, 1946. He was the 43rd U.S. President. Aside from politics, he is also a business person. From 1995-2000, he was the 46th Governor of Texas. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut. His parents are Barbara and George Bush. In 1968, he graduated from Yale University, and from Harvard Business School in 1975. He then Majored in Oil Businesses.
Bush married Laura Welch in 1977. He ran for the House of Representatives. He was a co-owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team. In 1994, he defeated Ann Richards in the Texas gubernatorial election. In 2001, he became the President and the fourth to succeed despite receiving fewer popular votes than the opponent. He was also the second son of a former president to occupy the White House. His brother Jeb Bush is also a politician (Apuzzo, 2008).
Eight months after Bush became the President, there was the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. In response, he launched the War on Terror, which was an international campaign by the military and it included the war in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. Bush promoted multiple policies like the economy, education, health care, social security reform. He also amended the Constitution to prohibit same-sex marriage.
Among the Acts, he signed into law include broad tax cuts, the No Child Left Behind Act, the Patriot Act, Medicare, the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act among others (Gill, 2007).
