Fractal Design was an American software company. It started its operations in 1985. Its original name was Fractal Software. In 1997, FD merged to form MetaCreations. Under the name Fractal Technology, it produced several best-selling computer packages for the Macintosh and PC platforms. Its first success was the Fractal Painter in 1990. It was a media drawing program. In 1996, it acquired Ray Dream Software. The creators sold all the products to other institutions like Corel and Microsoft.
Before FD became MetaCreations in 1997, it had several original products. They included Painter, Poser, Dabbler, Sketcher, and Detailer. They were a media painting, modeling, a natural, gray-scale, and a 3D programs. It also purchased and released the Creature House Expression, which was from Creature House. Their output had different features. They were part of fractal-generating software packages. They had a form of algorithm selection.
The FD products have an interactive image zoom and the capability to save files in TIFF, JPEG, or PNG format. They have the ability to store parameter folders, which allows the person to return to what he was handling previously. He can either modify or explore them. Many of the FD software give the user to add their formula, which helps them to control the fractal (Essinger, 2004).
Computers by FD is a good choice. There is the selection of color rendering, together with filters and other image manipulation techniques. You can even create a movie (Phillips, 2000).
