In 1935, Langston Hughes wrote the poem ''Let America Be America Again.'' The Crevecoeur letters depicted a different condition. Hughes' work was about the equality and the freedom of all the immigrants. It was about what they hoped for but never got. It looked at the hard-work and their honesty. Their masters had the goal of optimizing their production. They now had new technologies that could increase the efficiency of the labor (Halbfinger, 2004).
In Let America Be America Again, the American dream remained a mirage. The lower-class citizens could not pursue it. The poem criticizes the unfair life in the country. The Crevecoeur letters addressed the challenges of the immigrants in the new land. It looked at their ambitions, their aspirations, and what they were escaping. They all had their way of adapting to the conditions in America. Most of these people were the masters who were oppressing the natives (Kellogg, 2011).
Crevecoeur letters and Let America Be America, study the two sides of the same coin. They try to look at the society using different lenses. The groups of people had to survive in America. Hughes poem speaks of the dream that was not available for the lower-class American. He talked of the African-American and all the economically disadvantaged groups. They included some whites and immigrants too. The pieces of writing expressed hope for better things to come.
