The exact beginning of the Machine Age remain debatable. Some say that it includes the early 20th century, while the rest claim that it ended earlier. However, the approximate dating is from about 1800 to 1945. It was during the peak of the first and second World Wars. It is also the last part of the Industrial Age. It was clear that by mid-late 1940s, the atomic bomb, computer, and the transistor were already present (Knowles, 2014).

The beginning of contemporary and high-technology eras, marked the end of the Machine Age. It ended the intellectual model that the age had founded, in the mechanical field. The new times were heralding more complex versions. However, the artifacts of the Machine Age included, the mass production of high-volume goods. It was especially on moving assembly lines, like the automobile. There were earthmoving equipment and steel-framed buildings, which had great height.

During the Machine Age, there was the gigantic production of machinery. They included steel rolling mills, automobile body presses, and component fabrication. There was the innovation of high-speed printing presses, which enabled the publication of low-cost newspapers and also mass market magazines. Among the social influence of the era was the rise of advertising and consumerism.

The local arts and crafts were no longer useful. Instead, there was the nationwide branding and distribution of goods (Knowles, 2014). Thanks to the Machine Age, there was the cultural leveling, which was due to the exposure network broadcasting and movies gave people.
